Femara/Teva-Letrozole (generic name: letrozole) is a kind of medicine known as an aromatase inhibitor. It helps block the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for producing estrogen, the primary female hormone. By stopping this process, Letrozole lowers the levels of estrogen in the body and reduces the risk of the spread of breast cancer in menopausal women. Since most breast cancers react to estrogen, reducing its levels can hinder the growth of cancer cells. Letrozole is used for early-stage breast cancer treatment, extended treatment after tamoxifen therapy, and advanced or metastatic breast cancer. Dosage

When using this medication, follow the doctor’s guidance. The usual dose is one Femara tablet daily. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Try to take Femara at the same time each day and keep taking Femara as instructed by the doctor, which may be for months or years.
