Escitalopram / Cipralex / Esto (escitalopram) is an oral antidepressant used to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). SSRIs are medications that regulate serotonin, which is an important hormone that affects mood, depression and anxiety.
Dosage
Follow the doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions. It may be advisable to take it at a specific time. If a scheduled dose is missed, take it as soon as possible on the same day, but do not double-dose to make up for the missed dose the next day.
Cipralex is usually taken once a day with or without food.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (DSM-IV) is characterized by excessive anxiety and worry (apprehensive expectation) that is persistent for at least sixmonths and which the person finds difficult to control.
