Benicar Plus / Olmetec Plus (olmesartan medoxomil) is prescribed to reduce and control hypertension (high blood pressure). It is a member of the angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) group of medications that works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily throughout the body, delivering more oxygen to the heart muscles and helping to reduce the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Olmesartan may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs.
