Emgality 120 mg is prescribed to treat migraines. Emgality 100 mg is prescribed for cluster headaches.
Galcanezumab belongs to a class of drugs called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) inhibitors. These drugs work by blocking the activity of CGRP, a protein associated with migraine attacks.
Emgality is self-administered via subcutaneous injection.
Dosage

The usual dosage of Emgality for migraine prevention is an initial loading dose of 240 mg (administered as two consecutive 120 mg injections), followed by monthly maintenance doses of 120 mg. for episodic cluster headache:
For cluster headaches, the usual dose is three separate injections administered consecutively, using one prefilled syringe for each dose. Subsequently, one dose is administered at the start of a cluster period and then each month until the end of the cluster period.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, then continue with your regular monthly schedule. Do not double-dose to make up for a missed one.Â
Storage
Store Emgality in the refrigerator at 2°-8°C (36°-46°F) in its original carton to protect it from light. Do not freeze. If necessary, Emgality can be kept at room temperature up to 30°C (86°F) for a maximum of 7 days. Once stored at room temperature, do not return it to the refrigerator.
